Head Coach: James Boney
James Boney enters his first season as Head Coach at Cumberland County College and is ready to work hard to improve the program.
Originally from Egg Harbor, Boney graduated from Egg Harbor Twp High School and went on to Montclair State University as a two sport athlete playing basketball and football. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education/Health in 1999, Boney started his coaching career at Montclair as a Women's Basketball assistant coach under Head Coach Jamie Hoffman. After 4 years at Montclair, Boney went on to serve as Assistant Coach at Kean University from 2006-2008. Coach James was a part of 2 extremely successful years at Kean with a combined record of 55-8, winning two conference titles and earning two Elite 8 appearances.
In 2009 James Boney landed his first head coaching job for the Jersey Thunder, a semi-pro team of the Eastern Basketball Association. He coached the Thunder to the playoffs in his first year and finished with a 5-4 record.
Coach James Boney is eager to help his women become better athletes and people both on and off the court. His core coaching belief is OPENNESS to the process and to each other as an essential ingredient to success. He is compassionate about basketball and coaching and is big on his open door policy. Every athlete's voice is to be heard AND valued. Each player's input is not only valued, but VITAL to the overall strength as a group and team.
